A signing event at the stunning Simon Pearce shop on Friday was a popular with admiring customers. Simon Pearce and his son Andrew were available to chat with fans of their handcrafted wares and personally sign the pieces.
The Greenwich store has been transformed into a showroom of design and décor. Local architect, Tapani Talo designed the instillation, and Ethan Abramson’s handcrafted furniture is on view.
In town from their flagship store in Quechee,Vermont, Andrew explains he was exposed from an early age to design aesthetics and the discipline of handworked-craft. This is a family tradition, “my grandfather was a potter in Ireland, my father is a glassblower, and I design with wood.”
A lot of design experience and expertise goes into every piece they design. Andrew is most proud of his wooden bowls made from cherry, black walnut and burled maple – local wood is used. He explained, “our wares are designed for everyday use… beautiful yet highly functional.”
Simon has produced a line of glass trees, some clear, crackled or bubbled, others with silver or gold leaf embedded in the glass. They are gorgeous grouped together, and make a perfect holiday decoration.
For the home cook, various sizes of cutting boards are available in a choice of wood grains. Some have live wood edges, and are finished with allergy-free walnut oil. They can be used as an attractive serving board for holiday hors d’oeuvres.
Whether you are searching for the perfect gift or a graceful addition to your home, Simon Pearce is a terrific shopping experience.
