Marzullo: I Admire Jim Himes Outspoken Advocacy for Gun Violence Prevention

Letter to the editor from Drew Marzullo in support of Jim Himes, Oct 7, 2016

To the editor:

Since his election to Congress in 2008, Jim Himes has represented Greenwich and the entirety of Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District with thoughtfulness and independence.

Jim has taken principled stances on issues ranging from reforming Wall Street, as one of the principal drafters of Dodd Frank, to our national security, as a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In the process, Jim regularly reached across the aisle to make sure commonsense reforms and policies are enacted in response to our nation’s challenges.

Most personally to me, however, has been Jim’s outspoken advocacy for gun violence prevention. When Congress failed yet again to act in the wake of the tragedy in Orlando, he called for an end to silence and an end to empty symbolic gestures.

As a community leader in Greenwich, I know that whenever his neighbors need him, Jim is there for each of his constituents from Cos Cob to Bridgeport’s East End.

In this most raucous of election years, I hope you join me in supporting Greenwich’s very own Congressman Jim Himes to continue as our voice of reason in Washington, DC.

Sincerely,
Drew Marzullo
Selectman, Town of Greenwich
