Players Bring Their Game to YNET’s 7th Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

On Sunday, YNET’s 7th Annual Ultimate Frisbee Tournament brought together high school friends, returning college students and grads alike to unite in the spirit of competitive fun. YNET is a student-run club founded to prevent teen dating violence and foster positive relationships. In the United States, nearly 1 in 3 teens reports being a victim of dating abuse and in Connecticut alone, nearly one in ten high school students says they’ve been punched, kicked or slapped by their partner. A Dozen GHS Seniors to Perform “The Twelfth Night” on the 12th (PHOTOS)

During the past month, twelve dedicated seniors have joined efforts to self-direct and produce their own staging of Shakespeare’s The Twelfth Night. The collaborative effort has taught the cast what it means to work creatively in a short timespan and has helped them to develop even further as actors. The Twelfth Night, like many Shakespeare comedies, is a witty concoction of misunderstandings, love triangles, and clever irony. The play is centered on twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck. Viola, disguised as a boy, falls in love with Duke Orsino, who in turn is in love with Countess Olivia. GHS Senior Project Feature: Album Founded on Improvisation by Jack Plants and Hughie Allan

Embarking on a journey of personal discovery through music, Greenwich High School Seniors Jack Plants and Hughie Allan have bravely taken on the challenge of creating an original album. Their process differs from the creation of your typical compilation of music, however. In their case, their idea is not to write songs before recording, but to let their material develop organically through improvisation. GHS Senior Project Feature: Short Film “Dirty Vengeance” Filmed and Edited by James and Jeremy

Like many other soon-to-be-graduates at Greenwich High School, Jeremy Brown-Brugo and James Arca have chosen to take on a self-designed project in the month before graduation, using their personal skills to work towards a culminating presentation. In their case, the project is a 7-9 film titled “Dirty Vengeance.” Both young filmmakers have been collaborating ideas and filming together in New York City, with Jeremy as the main videographer, and James as main editor. The Avon’s Screening of “Rubble Kings” Exposes the Violence Before Hip Hop

On Tuesday night, the Avon Theater’s screening of “Rubble Kings” shed light on the forgotten yet strikingly important story of gang violence in New York in the 70’s and how it influenced the upstart of hip hop music. Arch Street Acoustic Concert with “Infectiously Soulful” Caroline Jones

On Friday night, the Arch Street Teen Center in Greenwich was filled with bright and compelling song. The “Arch Street Acoustic” free concert, hosted on Friday night by Singer-Songwriter and radio host Caroline Jones, featured originals and covers alike. Iconic Artist Peter Max Comes To Greenwich, Leaving a Splash of Vibrant Color

On Wednesday, May 27th, A true American icon came to Greenwich’s own C. Parker Gallery to present his emblematic artwork to viewers buzzing with questions and conversation. Max was not only a keystone artist in psychedelic and counter-culture pop art in the 60’s and 70’s, but later the official artist for many recent events, highlights including the Grammy Awards, The 30th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Super Bowl among others.
