ImageThe Greenwich Youth Conservation Program (GYCP) is accepting applications for its summer job program through April 30th.  The GYCP is seeking 112 Greenwich teens ages 14-15 for a unique “first job” opportunity in which they will learn teamwork and practical employment skills while enhancing the Town’s environment.
GYCP teens will participate in two-week work sessions from June 23rd through August 15th.  Participants will plant gardens, remove invasive vegetation and help maintain Greenwich parks and properties.  During breaks, guest speakers will share their knowledge on a variety of subjects including developing marketable job skills.  Personnel from the Greenwich Department of Social Services and Parks and Recreation, along with conservation professionals who have donated their time for program planning, will supervise and administer the program.  Participants will receive a $225 stipend for their work, made possible by private donors and sponsors.

Any Geenwich resident ages 14-15 may apply.  Public school students may obtain application forms from the Guidance Departments of all public middle schools or from the Greenwich High School Career Center.  Private school students may obtain application forms from Program Director Christina Nappi in the Department of Social Services (203) 622-7792 or [email protected].  Deadline for applications is April 30, 2014.
