As the sun began to set on the 5th annual Greenwich Town Party in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, Greenwich resident Nicky Winegardner and his band Lions on the Moon band were the final performance on the town stage prior to the headliners Earth, Wind & Fire and The Doobie Brothers.
As the last of the little kids toddled off with painted faces and souvenir GTP Frisbees from the early day family-friendly activities, the breeze from Long Island Sound cooled sunburned noses. By dusk, thousands had settled into lawn chairs or jostled for a patch of grass ready for the headline bands.
