PHOTOS: Cub Scout Campfire Ceremony is Quintessential Summer Camp Experience

The ampitheatre at Camp Seton, completed in Spring 2014, was the perfect setting on Friday afternoon for the annual Cub Scout campfire ceremony on the last day of camp.

The Cub Scouts, elementary aged boys and their families enjoyed an afternoon of skits and songs which each group took turns performing. The campfire included a variety of awards for sling shot skills, BB gun skills, scout skills, and shelter building skills. Fishign skills were also recognized with awards for Biggest Fish and MVF (most valuable fisherman. Other awards were the Happy Camper award and the Nature Enthusiast award.

The sequence of the groups went by age with the Wolf group (rising 2nd graders) Bears, Webelos I and Webelos II (rising 5th graders) and by programs such as Nature and Shooting Sports.

Campers and staff who return to Camp Seton each summer look forward to the weekly campfire and special events.  Themed days, special guests and the campfire with awards and skits are some of the activities that make Camp Seton so much fun.

Camp Director, Heather Lowthert described Friday Campfire as the highlight of the week.  “Our campfire at the end of the week gives our staff a chance to recognize campers who tried something new, accomplished something great, or did a good deed,” she said.

“The boys also love performing on stage for each other and their families,” she added.

In addition to the weekly campfire, the amphitheater was the perfect setting for a variety of special guests throughout the summer including Amazing Bubbles, a juggler, Animal Embassy and Pirate Improv!
