Art in Bloom, an exhibition of colorful, flower-filled and nature-inspired paintings by five regional artists, is a new exhibit at the Flinn Gallery. The exhibit opens with a reception on Thursday, January 26, 2017, 6:00 to 8:00pm. The exhibit runs through March 8.

With Art in Bloom, the Flinn Gallery proffers an antidote to the winter blues.

Mid-winter in the Northeast isn’t easy and by the end of January, we are already watching for signs of spring’s arrival.  Artists, known for being uniquely attuned to their environment, are often the first to observe and record changes in the light, from the lengthening shadows of autumn to the darkest nights of winter, and most especially the soft morning light and fresh colors of spring. Judging from the elegant and colorful paintings adorning the walls of the Flinn’s airy gallery, it is clear that spring is early this year.

Five regional artists include:
Jackie Battenfield, Annette Davidek, Julia Berkeley Heck, Jeanne Reiner, and Bill Scott. They combine their passion for flowers and nature’s riot of organic shapes and colors with their passion for art. The result is a gallery in bloom, along with 7 garden clubs who get in on the act.

Flower arrangements designed by area garden clubs to complement the paintings will be displayed weekly; contributors include Garden Education Center, Green Fingers, Greenwich Garden Club, Hortulus, Knollwood Garden Club, Little Garden Club of Rye, and Riverside Garden Club.
