Celebrate summer with jazz, Disney fun, worship, picnicking and fellowship at the annual Tent Weekend at Second Congregational Church on Friday, June 12 – Sunday, June 14. The free festivities are designed to delight people of all ages.
Events will be held on the church campus at 139 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. Activities will be on the lawn, or under a tent behind the church, where folding chairs will be provided. In case of rain, events will take place inside the church.
“Tent Weekend is always a highlight of our church year,” said the Rev. Maxwell Grant, Senior Minister. “It’s a time when we celebrate so many passages: high school graduates, returning snowbirds, Sunday school teachers, grade schoolers getting their first Bibles – a great snapshot of our church family. And the cookout after church is legendary.”
The following events are planned:
Friday, June 12:
• 6-8 p.m.: Greenwich High School Jazz Ensemble concert: Listen to jazz standards. If you like, bring your own picnic to eat on the lawn as early as 5 p.m.
Saturday, June 13:
• 4:30-6:30 p.m.: Youth Choir Disney Encore: Following a similar program in March, the choir will perform Disney selections, including songs from Frozen. Come dressed as your favorite Disney character, and have your picture taken with Princess Elsa and Olaf. Join in a sing-along. Bring your own picnic as early as 4 p.m., and make your own sundae with ingredients provided.
Sunday, June 14:
• 10:30 a.m.: Worship service: Attend a traditional service under the tent.
• 11:30 a.m. Picnic: Enjoy a cookout with food provided; a Bouncy House; and other fun, fellowship and activities for all ages.
