The Woman’s Club of Greenwich annual holiday boutique:
Fri., Nov. 14, 10:00am – 5:00-pm
Sat., Nov 15, 10:00am – 4:00pm
The club, located at 89 Maple Ave in a spacious Victorian mansion, has ample parking and brims with room after room of unique gifts. There are also visits from Santa, raffle prizes and “Grandma’s Kitchen.”
For years the annual two-day shopping event has become a destination for people seeking handmade and one-of-a-kind gifts. All proceeds from the two day event benefit the Club’s philanthropies and scholarship fund.

A love of fabric led to a line of clothes. Clare Hare was on maternity leave from her investment banking job when she began to brainstorm with another new mom about a new venture which ultimately evolved into her resort and golf wear apparel line.
Clare’s business and merchandise is made in the USA (Garment Center in NYC) of imported fabrics and superb construction. Her designs are mostly sold in area private clubs such as Round Hill Club, Greenwich Country Club and the Stanwich Club, as well as resorts nationwide. Her design aesthetic is classic, yet stylish.
A portion of sales of the sales from her sun protective line of clothing go to support the Melanoma Research Alliance which is seeking a cure for skin cancer.
“The fabrics sell my clothing. I don’t think of myself as a fashion designer,” she said. “I just love the fabrics and building a company around them.”
Knowing she could scale up and build volume, she chooses to remain smaller and more custom, saying “it’s a lifestyle choice.” Now offering her line on the Clare Hare website, she is seeing even more flexibility with e-commerce. That’s what makes her successful: keeping it simple with just five pieces and many fabulous fabrics.
