Guerrilla Holiday Market to Pop Up at A.P.E. Fitness in Port Chester

On Saturday and Sunday, Nov 20 and Nov 21, A.P.E. Fitness, in Port Chester will host “Home for the Holidays,” a store-front pop-up shop featuring bedding, furniture, original art, gifts, and household items.

The gym space will be cleared for tables full of Judi Boisson quilts, handmade bedding, and myriad household items. The room will also feature furniture, including drum tables, dressers, antique chairs, sheets, and rugs.

The Pop-up is the brainchild of the A.P.E. Fitness community, which includes the Westover Flea Market and A.P.E.’s man for all seasons, owner Fernando Martinez.

A trained woodworker and martial-artist, Mr. Martinez is the former owner of Go to Your Room, a custom furniture store for children and adults that had shops in Byram, Westport and Chappaqua for 17 years.

Despite its tough-sounding name, A.P.E. Fitness teaches body-weight, endurance, and strength training in a relaxed setting that treats the soul as well as the body.  Mr. Martinez calls it “physical fitness group therapy.”

Home for the Holidays Pop-Up Shop will be open this Saturday and Sunday, November 19th and 20th, from 10-3:30 on both days.

Driving south from Greenwich, make a right from the Post Road/Main Street onto Westchester Avenue.  Poningo Street is the fourth street up.  Make a right and follow Poningo for 1-1/2 blocks.  A.P.E. Fitness is at #26, on the left side of the street.
