Greenwich Police Remind Residents to Take Precautions against Burglary during Holidays

Some time during the weekend of Nov 16-18, a home on Stanwich Lane was burgled. Homeowners discovered household items missing when they returned.

Greenwich Police remind residents that during the holidays, quite often there is an uptick in burglaries when residents are away.

“Lock your house and have someone check to make sure it looks lived in. Have newspapers and mail picked up so that they don’t pile up,” warned Lt. Kraig Gray. “Ask neighbors to keep an eye on your house.”

Lt. Gray said it’s a good idea to put lights on timers. “It’s an inexpensive item that can be purchased at any hardware store,” Lt. Gray said, adding that you can also control your TV while you’re away.
