Greenwich Hospital Welcomes First Baby of 2017

Greenwich Hospital this morning welcomed its first baby of 2017. Jayleen made her debut on Jan. 1 at 3:53 am, weighing in at 6 lbs. and 14 oz. She was 19 inches long.

Zayra Ramos and Ivan Valdez, who live in West Haven, were thrilled with their new addition to the family.

Jayleen joins siblings Xiara, 10, Karena, 9, Angel 4 and Jordan, 3.

The former Greenwich residents recently moved to West Haven. They were traveling to Greenwich for a family party when Zayra started having contractions. They decided to skip the party and head to Greenwich Hospital, where Zayra had planned to have her baby all along.

“This is a great way to start the New Year,” said Valdez.
