Greenwich High School Band Return Victorious from Boston

Last week, the Greenwich High School band program attended an adjudication music festival in Boston.

The musicians competed against bands from California, New Mexico, Missouri, New York and others.

“The band students performed beautifully and I was very proud of their accomplishments,” said band director John Yoon in an email.

Congratulations to the winners:

Concert Band/Symphony Band – 3rd place in Division, Silver rating.

Wind Ensemble – 1st place in Division 3A, Gold rating.

Jazz Lab Band  – 2nd place in Division, Silver rating.

Jazz Ensemble – 1st place in Division, Adjudicator’s award for scoring of 92 or above and Outstanding Group Award for earning the highest instrumental score at the festival.

Maestro Award (given to outstanding soloists) – Reed Aaron, tenor sax and Trevor Kelly, alto sax.

In addition to competing, the band members attended a performance of The Sound of Music at the Boston Opera House and visited the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, toured the Freedom Trail. They musicians also went on a Duck Tour and visit the Lexington Common.
