Nothing Says Love Like Ice Cream: Boys & Girls Club Ice Cream Social Rescheduled

NOTE: This event has been rescheduled from Feb 12th

Hundreds of Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich members will be treated to an ice cream social at the Club on Tuesday, Feb 16, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich members, ages six to 18, will be treated to ice cream by Board member Rebecca Breed in her annual ice cream social.

The Clubhouse is already brimming with ‘Thank You Rebecca’ cards created by the kids who highly anticipate this sweet annual event.

Long time BGCG Board Vice Chair, Rebecca Breed, will for the eighth year supply all members with delicious ice cream dishes and tasty toppings, to hundreds of children in honor of Valentine’s Day.

Mrs. Breed is loved by the Greenwich community, especially the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich because she has helped countless higher-education bound young people fulfill their dreams of attending and completing college. In addition to her Board commitments, Rebecca regularly volunteers in the Club’s Learning Center, helping children with homework and giving encouragement and guidance.

A native of Greenwich, Breed served as Selectman for six years, with two of them as First Selectman. Afterwards she went to law school and practiced juvenile law in Stamford for many years.

Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich has a Board of 33 members and boasts programs such as S.M.A.R.T Girls, Passport to Manhood, Reading Champions, Homework Help, Swim Lessons, Athletic Training, Robo Tech and more.

It is supporters like Rebecca who invest in these quality programs for Club members (a third of which live well below the poverty level as defined by HUD), without which, the Club would not be able to help children aim to BE GREAT and reach their full potential as productive, caring responsible citizens.

Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich aims to provide an outstanding experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors. We offer an extensive and comprehensive array of recreational and academic programs to members ages 6-18, for just $50 per year. The Club is located in a state-of-the-art facility which serves as the town’s leading provider of athletic leagues and competitive teams; we offer indoor and outdoor summer camps as well as school-year programming.

For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, has provided high-quality programming which builds character and citizenship and offers kids a safe, nurturing, affordable environment in which to succeed. Each year, we provide opportunities ranging from swimming lessons to homework help to hundreds of underserved children, allowing their parents to work a full day without worry. The mission of the Club is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
