On Friday night the new bleachers in the Greenwich High School gymnasium were dedicated just before the Cardinals faced off against the Wilton Warriors for an exciting game.
The bleachers were made possible by a generous donation from the Greenwich Athletic Foundation in the sum of $110,000.
the red and white bleachers replaced the wooden ones, which were original to the school when it opened in 1970.
Another gift of the GAF was funding of $17,000 for a new sound system at Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink. The GAF is also working on raising money to replace older scoreboards at the Greenwich High School campus.
On Friday night, the bleachers dovetailed beautifully with the new floor, for an overall feeling of a brand new gymnasium.

Junior Ian Colalucci, a baseball player at GHS said the students were pleased with the spanking new bleachers. “It was a very exciting improvement. Even though it took a while, everyone was so happy. Not everybody uses the gym for varsity sports, but we all use it for P.E.,” he said.
The game versus Wilton was very close and a tie forced overtime. With seconds to spare, the Warriors scored, bringing the final score to Warriors 44, Cardinals 43.
