Junior League of Greenwich Seeks Applicants for Community Service Award

Every spring, the Junior League of Greenwich (JLG) presents the JLG Community Service Award of up to $2,500 to a local female high school senior who has demonstrated leadership and sustained commitment to community service.

The JLG is currently accepting applications from applicants who exemplify the mission of the Junior League of Greenwich and whose volunteer activities show a significant and sustained commitment to both community service and leadership.

Applications are due on March 11, 2016 and can be found on The Junior League of Greenwich website.

Last year’s recipient, Izabela Horzempa, stood out for her significant and sustained community service and leadership, but also for her fulfillment of the JLG’s mission of developing the potential of women. She was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as a national gold medalist and a state silver medalist for her ceramic artwork. She raised more money as Homecoming Chair than anyone previously. Izabela attends Fairfield University and used the Community Award to help fund her college tuition.

The Junior League of Greenwich is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained individuals. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. If you are interested in joining the Junior League of Greenwich, contact the JLG Office at (203) 869-1979 or visit www.jlgreenwich.org.
