Stop by Augustine’s Farm and say hi to Kathy and John, our favorite farmers in Greenwich. You may also find Mark Goldstein behind the counter. This week there are strawberries from Yorktown, though later in the season the strawberries will come from Somers, CT.

Screen Shot 2014-06-22 at 8.59.15 AMThere are dozens of freshly laid eggs in a special new refrigerated egg cabinet. Priced at just $4.50, they rival supermarket prices. You may even get some eggs from the famous Ricky, the pet chicken, who we featured back in March on Greenwich Free Press.

Also, new to the stand is a jumbo refrigerated cabinet for fresh cut flowers, Kathy’s specialty. she is known for her prize dahlias, but also sells gorgeous bouquets of zinnias. There are also flats of impatiens that Kathy started from seed in the greenhouse over the winter.

There is spinach grown right here in Greenwich and an array of veggies including bunches of scallions, tomatoes, onions in several varieties, carrots, beets, squash, zucchini and eggplant to name a few.

And don’t miss honey from Kathy’s beehives. It comes in several flavors and is $8.00 a lb.

Watch this space for a story on a return visit to Augustine’s Farm. Who knows what’s in store? We were told to wear jeans.
