Sunday Afternoons Live: New York Kammermusiker Comes to First Church in OG on February 18

The 2018 Sunday Afternoons Live concert series kicks off a season of classical, jazz and popular music presentations with the New York Kammermusiker on February 18 in the First Church Auditorium in Old Greenwich.

On four Sundays in February and March, live performances by outstanding local and national artists will provide something for all ages and all musical tastes.

The season’s first offering, the New York Kammermusiker, is a “double-reed” chamber ensemble that creates a unique sound with its combination of oboes, English Horns and bassoons, and has attracted international attention for its extensive travels and recordings.

“The members of the Kammermusiker combine a unique repertoire of music from the Renaissance and Baroque through Contemporary eras with an informal and engaging stage manner,” said Craig Symons, Director of Music at First Church. “They make a point of inviting the audience to know more about the works performed and the instruments used. This will be fun for everyone, and a special treat for those interested in how music is made.”

Other programs in the 2018 Season of Sunday Afternoons Live will be:

February 25 – Andrew Armstrong, piano
March 4 – Wendy Kerner and Teresa Mango, harps
March 11 – Ron Petrides Jazz Quartet

Tickets are $25 for each performance and are available at the door.

Refreshments and light sweets are included with admission. As with all First Music & Arts programs, school-age youth are free.

First Church is located at 108 Sound Beach Avenu in Old Greenwich.
