Greenwich Choral Society’s Holiday Concert, “Holiday Brass” is set for Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 4:00 and Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2:30 and 5:00 at Christ Church, Greenwich, 254 East Putnam Ave. Paul F. Mueller is the Music Director and Conductor.

This year’s Greenwich Choral Society December Concert, “Holiday Brass,” features Jonathan Willcocks’ exhilarating Magnificat, a melodious and rhythmical setting of the Song of Mary from the Gospel of Luke. The program will also include shorter works for brass and chorus by Jan Sweelinck, Leo Nestor and Julian Wachner.

In addition to the thrilling combination of brass, organ, and percussion, audience favorite harpist Rita Costanzi will be featured as soloist in works for harp, chorus and soprano.

As per tradition, the December concert will begin with a procession of bells, candles and voices, as the audience in the darkened sanctuary is surrounded with the traditional carol Away In A Manger. Carols with audience participation will be threaded throughout the program and complement the rich fabric of sounds and images of the season, including Ola Gjeilo’s rapturous Northern Lights and Hanukkah songs celebrating the “Festival of Lights.”

This festive concert is a wonderful way to usher in this glorious time of the year.
