Caroline Jones Brings A Little “Art & Soul” to Arch Street

Screen Shot 2015-04-17 at 5.48.15 PMSinger-Songwriter Caroline Jones is teaming up with Arch Street Teen Center, the nation’s longest-running and privately-funded teen center to host and headline “Arch Street Acoustic,” a contest for local teens. Winners will get a guest performance on Jones’ radio show, Art & Soul on Sirius XM’s Coffee House.

Young people in grades 7-12, living in Fairfield and Westchester counties can enter the contest by submitting a two- to four-minute, live acoustic YouTube video (duos & trios welcome) and promoting their videos through FanDistro Shares.

Jones, who is a singer, songwriter, producer, radio show host and author, will handpick winners of the contest. Four winners will be chosen, including one grand prize winner who will be selected to perform a duet with Caroline Jones, be featured as a guest performer and interviewee on Art & Soul, receive a guided tour of Sirius XM studios in New York and a professional audio and video recording of their performance.

“We’re excited to partner with Caroline Jones, who is committed to providing students with uplifting and inspiring opportunities to express themselves through music,” said Kyle Silver, Executive Director of Arch Street. “This is a unique opportunity for students to showcase their musical talent and be recognized for through this competition.”

Three Winners + Grand Prize Winner will be selected to perform at “Arch Street Acoustic” on Friday, May 29 at 7:30 pm.

Caroline Jones is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, radio show host, author and founder of The Heart is Smart Initiative, a curriculum and school tour that uplifts, inspires, and provides students a medium of expression through music. Jones has conducted her acoustic, storytelling-based performance, songwriting and vocal performance workshops, and student showcases at schools and universities across the country.

Jones has performed at notable venues, including Julliard, Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Café Carlyle, the Russian Tea Room and with notable artists including James Taylor, Deepak Chopra, The Beach Boys, Dave Matthews, Paul Simon, Ani DiFranco, Ziggy Marley & The Wailers, Grace Potter, O.A.R. & Patti Smith among others. Her monthly radio show Art & Soul airs on Sirius XM’s Coffeehouse and delves “into the art of songwriting to the soul of the song” with other guest singer and songwriters.

Arch Street is the longest-running teen center in America, providing a drug and alcohol-free environment, where teens can initiate and organize activities that improve their social lives and provide leadership and community service. Arch Street is a Connecticut 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity, which is completely privately funded.
