Art to the Avenue Opening Night Festivities Set for Thursday

Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 8.43.05 PMIt’s finally time for Art to the Ave and it looks like the rain might clear just in time for Thursday night’s launch parties.

Artists all over town have been waiting patiently since the Art to the Ave kick off event back in February at the Bendheim Gallery. Both aspiring and established artists celebrated being selected by local businesses and have been looking forward to having their work displayed during Art to the Ave.

Opening is set for Thursday, May 1, from 5:30-8pm. The evening launches a truly spectacular show. Musicians and street performers fill the street entertaining strollers. Most stores host receptions for the hundreds of visitors who attend to preview the work of over 120 artists. The art selected by the retailers remains in place through Memorial Day, so there is ample time for viewers to experience the “gallery” that downtown Greenwich becomes. All the art on display is for sale, and a 30% tax deduction for the purchaser benefits GAC.

2014 Art to the Ave sponsors include Little Shop Around the Corner, Greenwich Window Treatments, Bank of America, Amina Rubinacci, Beam & Barre, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., C. Parker Gallery, Greenwich Pharmacy, Lucky Brand, Stuart Weitzman and Vilebrequin.

A map of Art to the Ave is available on the Greenwich Arts Council website.
