April School Vacation Week: Five Days of Fun at Byram Shubert

Here are some great vacation week activities at the Byram Shubert Library.

Monday, April 10th
Yoga for Kids with Kristin DeGroat
10:30 a.m.

The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library offer a way for children to have fun while improving sleep, study habits and concentration: a great way to begin the week.

Monday, April 10th
Star Wars Tai Chi with Ken Dolan
1 p.m.

The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library present the master demonstrating the ways in which tai chi improves balance, flexibility and concentration.  The children will have fun while learning valuable skills.

Tuesday, April 11th
Robert Rogers Puppet Company:  Aesop’s Fables
10:30 a.m.
Admission is free for this Friends of the Byram Shubert Library presentation. The puppeteers return to present “The Fox and the Grapes”, “The Tortoise and the Hare”…and more well loved tales.

Tuesday, April 11th
Fun with Chess with Master Rich
1 p.m.

A monthly feature sponsored by the Friends of the Byram Shubert Library.  Kids will learn the basics of this ancient game of skill and memory…or improve their skills.  Game pieces are provided.

Wednesday, April 12th
Singing Class with Soprano Calire Stadtmuellar (for ages 8 and up)
10:30 a.m.

The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library sponsor this wonderful opportunity for children to learn the basics of voice control and projection.  They will learn vocal exercises and then have the chance to put them into practice.  A wonderful opportunity – and fun!

Wednesday, April 12th
R.E.A.D. to a Dog

3 p.m.
Once a week young readers (5 to 12) choose a book and read to a friendly, well-trained dog and its friendly, knowledgeable owner as part of the nationally acclaimed program.

Thursday, April 13th
Science Family Craft:  Make a Light Up Bug
1 p.m.

What could be more fun: teacher Irum Kahn will show you how to work with circuitry, wires and more to make a bug which lights up…and you can take your creation home!

Saturday, April 15th
Fun with Chess with Master Rich
1 p.m.

The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library present Byram Shubert’s favorite chess master as he helps you learn the skills and improve your game.
